Meet My Hairstylist

David, master stylist at Salon Prive,is my current hair stylist. Before I met David, I was switching between salons in Toronto never satisfied with the end result.

I’ve finally found a stylist who understands my requests and knows how to work my hair to give me the results that flatter my face. I also liked how bluntly honest he was when we first met, telling me that my hair had no style. What a shame for someone who has a style blog!

David is originally from France, where he worked as a stylist for a television station. He moved to Toronto four years ago and opened his first salon here at 67 Elm Street.

You’ll never see him advertising anywhere – all of his customers are referrals.

That's Jojo in my lap - the salon pet. The cutest dog in the world!

I described the style I wanted, and got the exact result

My hair is fine and breaks easily. Considering all things I’ve done to it, from DIY bleaching to DIY haircuts, I’m surprised I have any hair left at all.

David has been working on reviving my hair. He’s promised to visibly eliminate my current flyaway-hair problem within a few months.

He’s also taught me how to properly blow-dry my hair. You’d think someone my age would know that by now, but I was doing it all wrong!

During my appointment last week, I told David about my blog. He liked it and offered to give my readers a discount.

Thank you David!

So what IS the proper way to blow dry hair? Does it involve a round brush, because that would be a truly painful hassle when you have waist-long hair?

    PS: precious dog…I believe he’s a Yorkie right? :)

if you have waist long hair i’m not surprised you’re asking about a round brush. please CUT YOUR HAIR!!! you would look so much better with it shoulder length for example, get a few layers in there and MORE MODERN. Oprah says people with waist long hair have emotional issues so most would be thinking that.

haha, shoulder length = never again. I wish it was waist-long! It’s actually only half way down my back. anyways, this is an old hairdo, check out my new haircut that I got a few weeks ago.

    Roxana –

He showed me how to use a small round brush to style the front section only (bangs and around my face).

Then he showed me how to use a paddle brush to style the rest:

Hey, I hear you!!!Struggle with the same problem:) Can I ask you what’s his price range? For a cut & blowdry, colour and highlights? I just don’t like to go somewhere if I don’t have at least an idea about the prices:P
    Thanx!

Ah! now i know where I am getting my next haircut from. I go back and forth between Fiorio in Yorkville and Bellavance uptown. I actually like both, depending on who u get in Fiorio but this should be interesting since I have all the problems u r mentioning :D
