My name is Allison Maxwell and I am 26 years old. My most favorite thing to do in this life is run. I started over 3 years ago and have so far completed several 10 KM races, two half marathons, relay races and one triathlon. I am currently working towards my first full marathon. I also weight train at the gym 4-5 times/week.
Staying in shape and being healthy is very important to me – this is why having the proper apparel is essential to achieving my personal fitness and health goals. Lululemon combines practicality, quality and comfort with the bonus of style. Their various lines of athletic wear provide the functionality required for various types of low impact to high impact physical activity.

Top: Stride Jacket IIÂ Â $108
This jacket hugs your body in all the rights places but is still loose fitting. It is a longer length so can be worn with tights. It also has thumb holes that keep the sleeves down and hands warm, as well as a zipper garage to keep your chin and neck warm.
Bottoms: Grove Pants  $108
These are reversible! These bottoms are your all-around anything pants. Great for lounging around the house or working out. They have a wide waist band and sit higher on the waist. They have a waist band pocket for small items such as keys and money. I have had mine for almost 2 years now and they fit and look just as good as they did the day I bought them. Can be purchased in a variety waist band colours.
.
Bottoms: Run – Empower Crops IIÂ $86
These are my most recent Lulu purchase. What I like the most is no more chafing during those long distance runs! These are also great for cycling. They are extremely comfortable – my favorite pair of Lulu Lemon bottoms yet!
Some other pros:
•   Secure pocket for cards, keys & sport snacks
•   Mesh behind the knees for extra ventilation
•   A calf length running crop to support your muscles and reduce bounce
•   7 colour schemes to choose from
Tank Top: Running Tank $52
(now discontinued but is very similar to the Athletic Deep V Tank II) This tank has lots of support (built in bra) but can be layered with your own sports bra for additional support.
Headgear: Twisted Headband $12
It is the perfect width so it doesn’t fall off your head while running. Great for people with bangs because it holds them all back without any fly-aways.
.
Top: Swift Tank $52
This top has a zipper pocket in the front so you can hold money and keys. Cross straps in the back provide maximum support and breathability and is great for long distance running or high impact sports.
Bottom: Run – Jog Skirt  $54
This skirt is very cute but do not be fooled – it has concealed shorts underneath that provide all the functional properties of running shorts and are quite functional. This skirt is great for short runs! I don’t do any long distance running in this skirt as the shorts underneath are not long enough to reduce chafing. There is a mesh pocket for holding cards and keys. The skirt also wicks away sweat and has quick dry fabric.
.
Top: Remix Lulu Hoodie $98
This hoodie is very comfortable and warm. Great for outdoor walks and hiking. There is a built in zipper garage to keep your neck and chin warm. Not so much ideal for intense work-outs.
Bottoms: Groove Crop II $86
These bottoms are reversible! Great for running, going for hikes and just lounging around. They are also chaif resistant and provide a great range of movement.
.
Bottoms: Run – Speed Short  $52
These shorts are ultra-light and perfect for working out and short distance running as they are only chafe resistant. They have a zipper pocket in the back for storing money and keys.
Top: $52
This tank is very light weight and great for the hot summer months. It is body skimming and perfect to wear over a full support bra. It is made with elastic jersey material that provides for flexible movement. Wicks away sweat.

What about a proper fitted bra? Tryst Lingerie (http://www.trystlingerie.com/) is a dedicated and experience bra fitting store. As a runner myself, I understand the importance of a proper fitting sports bra, one where your not bouncing around or blooming out. I highly recommend if you are advertising sports wear you look into proper fitting sports bras.
Thanks for the suggestion. Allison did include a photo of her favourite bra, among several other photos I decided not to publish as the post would have been too lengthy. The one she’s using is called Not So Deep V and it was $42. She wrote:”

It is the best for long distance running because it provides the nescessary support so as to not cause any pain from ‘bouncing’. Also looks great under any shirt.”
I’m sorry, I’m confused. Is this a review or an advertisement for Lululemon? Does Allison work for the company because this review sounds rather pro Lulu…?
Normally a review would offer both pros and cons, but this “review” sounds very one sided.
Oh, nooo, lululemon had nothing to do with this post, this is not an advertisement.
Hi Susan,
This is Allison and my intention was to not advertise Lulu Lemon but to discuss all the reasons why it is my #1 choice for workout apparel. These are simply my personal opinions on the clothes. I have tried other brands of workout clothes and have decided that, for me, Lulu workout gear works the best for my personal fitness regime.
If I was to give some cons about Lulu clothes it would be the higher than average price tag which may not be justifiable to the occasional gym go-er. However, for someone like me who considers working out and running to be a big part of my life, paying these higher than average prices for what I feel is top quality clothing is worth it.
Great post Allison. I’m just starting a running program and this helps me out a lot! I get overwhelmed when I go into Lulu!
I need to start running!!!
Hi Kelly,
I totally agree about being overwhelmed when I go into Lulu. There is A LOT in the store for every kind of body/every kind of fitness level, etc. I discovered that it works best when you have some time and go in when it is be less busy (like a weekday morning). Then what I do is pick out lots of different clothes, with help from the staff, to try on then pick the ones I feel fit the best.
It’s great now too because you can order Lulu online so it gives you lots of time to think about what you tried on and what exactly you want to purchase after visiting the store. I personally do not like to rush into buying clothes from Lulu because they are expensive and I like to be 100% sure I will be happy with the purchase.
Are you sure that is the Swift and Running Tanks? The top tank is the Pose Tank and the second tank is the Wrap Tank from about 3 years ago.
Oops – the white is the Pose and the blue is the Wrap.
This is a very one sided analysis. A great company is one which is ready to address problems and STILL be able to provide customer service when a problem arises. When I went in with a problem a few months after I made a purchase, I was told that it was my problem. When I asked to speak to a district manager, I was told that there wasnt one and the manager in the store had the final say. When I spoke to the rep in the customer case centre, I was told that there was nothing that could be done but i was welcome to take pictures of the problem, send them in to the company, and if i wanted the item back that i should also include return postage! I was disgusted beyond belief! They are very nice before they sell you something, but god forbid something goes wrong with their product. You are made to feel that you have to prove your case in a court of law to have a chance to receive some customer service! Horrible Horrible company even if the clothing is O.K!
