These people are gorgeous for sure. I also wonder why throughout all of your streetstyle and other posts, you never show any women who aren’t model-thin? Us heavy ladies (and i’m not even referring specifically to obese women- you don’t even feature average curvy figures) can be pretty stylish too.

Hey Pixie, thanks for your comment.
I also believe women (and same goes for men) can be stylish regardless of their body type, as well as age, race… And I try to incorporate that in my street style posts. When style hunting, I’m on the lookout for outfits that I think readers will find inspiring, and never judge based on who the person wearing the outfit is.
I’ll keep this comment in mind next time I’m shooting SS.

I understand, just a little disappointed that people who aren’t modelesque don’t seem to catch your eye. That being said, we do tend to flock to people that look like us, so it’d make sense that thin, leggy women are the most head turning and worthy of this blog.

      Hey Pixie,

I think your judgment is obviously a very sound one. As a former jolly gentleman, I always managed to maintain a personal aesthetic that acted outside of stereotypical “fat clothes.”

I will say, although Dejana may not have posted photos of bigger sizes, it does not indicate that she herself is not looking (or not interested). Street style is hard, especially in Toronto. I work for BlogTO which is notoriously bad for it’s street style, but unless you spend hours in one spot, it could be challenging to fit every niche that the internet deems fashionable and/or exciting.

Now that you have brought it to D’s attention, she seems keen on making a mental note, but directing street style is a no go. It is the eye of the camera holder that takes the photos and her decisions on what is awesome for the day are forever hers. Wouldn’t you rather she continue her impressive cataloguing of Canadian street style on her own terms? Terms that stress the need to capture an outfit, rather than a body type. I know plenty of fashionably plus size ladies and can see girls like them getting their moment in the sun – but like anything, good things come to those who wait.

      Long comment, sorry.

Oh, if you are looking for a gorgeous woman who fits your description of beauty, check out the beautiful and amazing Jessica from CA. http://tangledupinlace.blogspot.com/

You will be glad you did!

I love what you are doing with the site, but I can see Pixie’s point. I am also a plus size reader. I love looking at how people wear their clothes but especially when I know I can re-create the look. Sure, you could go around looking for stylish plus size men and women in the city [and I know there are many] but I have a better suggestion for you. Maybe try to do a monthly post dedicated to the plus size readers. It could be a review on a store that offers plus size clothing [forever 21 has a new line, for example] or even just a collection of streetstyle posts of plus size style you saw throughout the month. Maybe even feature a plus size blogger. I do not think anyone is expecting every one of your posts to be fat friendly. No one expects you to go looking for fat people at a party either. You are doing a great job with this site and I think this is just an opportunity to broaden your followers.

Thanks for taking my photo! I’m quite flattered. My outfit was a mix of vintage from my most recent visit to New York (shoes, bag, belt, earrings), Uniqlo vest, Lucca Couture shorts, and vintage Alfred Sung necklace and brooch. xo
