Moving to San Francisco

…which probably doesn’t come off as a surprise given all the recent SF street style posts :) A lot has happened in the past few months – I’ve completed my graduate studies, found a new job, and decided to move from Toronto to San Francisco. So what does this mean for Shopsterium? Well, no more TO street style :( Other than that, I still plan to continue bringing you fresh style ideas and shopping deals, all the way from sunny California. I’m really excited about the move and hope you’ll enjoy the change that will come with it.

Off I go to continue packing. I’m officially moving in 5 days. I’ll miss you Toronto, stay stylish!

xo, Dejana

What’s up?

Dear readers,

As you might have noticed, I haven’t been updating the blog on daily basis lately. Besides fighting a mean cold, I’m finishing up my masters thesis and interviewing for jobs. Hope to be back to normal soon, thanks for your understanding and patience!

xo,
Dejana

Shopsterium crashes on 1st year anniversary

Shopsterium keeps crashing today due to high volume traffic. Spectacular anniversary indeed! I called my hosting company, Bluehost, and they can’t help! :(

I’ll wait for the dust to settle until posting the next giveaway. No worries, if they don’t all happen today, will have them ready for you tomorrow (hopefully!).

Lanvin for H&M Collection Preview at the AGO

As someone who regularly shops at H&M, and appreciates (ahem, dreams about) good high-end designer creations, I was pretty excited about Lanvin for H&M 2010 collaboration preview. Here’s how the collection fared:

Affordable? – $200-$250 per dress, so I’ll go with no.
Wearable? – All of the pieces were functional and wearable. Mind you, the hems are unfinished, so wouldn’t expect them to last more than a few washes.
Different? – Design – yes; materials – your average H&M. I especially enjoyed the accessories and shoes.

The collection hits the stores on November 20th. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Shoes $99

bracelet $29.95

dress: $249, clutch $49.95

Given the special occasion and posh venue (Art Gallery of Ontario), I started planning my outfit early :) Emilio & Coco offered to style me for this event in  Campanula, a dress inspired by the national flower of Monaco. The dress will be available on their e-boutique as of Nov 13th, so I was the first person to ever wear it in public. So honoured, thank you Emilio & Coco!

I had a major haircut & dye for L’Oreal’s Revolutionary Reds contest :) If you have a second, please vote for me!

Thank you Dat Salon for this wonderful makeover.

Ok, that’s enough news for a single blog post :) Have a great day everyone!

xx, Dejana

I met Manolo Blahnik!

If you’re following me on Twitter, you probably saw me tweet (brag) about meeting Manolo Blahnik at Neiman Marcus in San Francisco last week. Unfortunately I do not own a pair of Manolos (yet!) but I still went up  to say hi and take a few photos. He’s one cheerful gentleman; he was kissing and hugging everyone, even saw him kiss some girl’s shoes!

I will be modelling at the Toronto LG Fashion Week!

If you’re following me on Twitter, then you might have seen my tweet announcing that I was asked to model at the upcoming Toronto LG Fashion Week!

I’ve kept the details a secret up until now. I’m thrilled to share with you that I will be walking the runway in a Zoran Dobric design at the fashion week closing gala Dare to Wear Love.

I’m honoured to be taking part in this event which will be featuring the work of some of my favourite Canadian designers including: David Dixon, Evan Biddell, Lucian Matis, Pat McDonagh, Wesley Badanjak, and of course, Zoran Dobric.

Tickets can be purchased online, and please note that the proceeds will go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. I’m nervous and excited; I’m counting on your support so I hope to see you all there!

300th post: Ryan Gosling + Shopsterium

This is the first sentence of shopsterium’s 300th blog post :) If I were Oprah, I’d send you all off to Hawaii. Thank you everyone for visiting my blog and inspiring me to keep posting every day!

Love,

Dejana

ps. Oh, yes, the fun part (at least for me). I saw Ryan Gosling at the premiere of Blue Valentine. Talk about TIFF dreams coming true! He signed my copy of The Notebook. I don’t exactly remember what I said to him but he said thank you, and posed for a photo with me :)

TIFF 2010 Opening Gala

A few days ago I begged for an invite to one of those hush-hush TIFF parties, offering to wear my best with a smile, but alas, the party organizers didn’t find it all that amusing.  Having no personal connections with anyone in the film industry, I accepted the fact that I won’t be partying with Ryan Gosling this year. Or at least not during the next 10 days.

With that mindset I put on my blue jeans and oxford shoes, and headed to tonight’s Toronto International Film Festival Opening Gala at the Roy Thomson Hall. Not as an attendee, but as a paparazzi / street style hunter.

As soon as I arrived, I bumped into Erin Karpluk (Being Erica) as she was getting out of a cab (with a hot date!). It all happened so fast, I didn’t get a chance to take a photo! She looked fab, as always.

I managed to take two street style photos when an older gentleman approached me and asked if I needed a ticket. I heard myself saying “No”, and I immediately regretted it. This man certainly didn’t look like a scalper or anyone who needed to make a few extra bucks. I guess sensing my hesitation, he quickly added “but it’s free, and you get to skip the line”. Twenty seconds later I was inside the Roy Thomson Hall, with my camera under my arm, and the biggest smile that’s ever walked through those doors. I had an executive floor seat at the opening gala of the largest and most diverse film festival in the world!

Faces you might recognize in the following two photos:
Hawksley Workman, George Strompolos, Olivia Newton John, Allie MacDonald, Michael McGowan, Nelly Furtado, (the cast of the gala opener, Canadian move Score – A Hockey Musical.)

And the style photos I took:

’twas a grand night!
