Freebie Friday – That’s right, Concepts Salon & Spa in Toronto is giving away a complimentary Global Keratin hair treatment to one lucky Shopsterium reader! This semi-permanent (2-5 mths) hair straightening normally costs $350+, depending on the length & thickness of your hair. Global Keratin treatment straightens the hair without damaging or changing its texture. The treatment can be used on all hair types, including chemically treated hair (coloured, permed, relaxed, highlighted and bleached)!

So who wants this magical hair makeover? I will personally accompany you at the spa, and take some before & after photos to be published here. While you’re getting your hair transformed, I’ll be enjoying some of the other spa services Concepts at the Holt Renfrew Centre has to offer. They’re well known for their impeccable hygiene, rejuvenating facials, and anti-stress massage therapy. And I could always use a mani :) I’m sooo looking forward to this spa day!

I’ve had my current hairstyle for the past 6-7 years, and I’m ready for a change. My biggest fear is that I’ll regret it as soon as I walk out of a salon, so I’m asking for your advice!

Style: asymmetrical shoulder-length bob with angled bangs. Colour: auburn red.

Lanvin for H&M Collection Preview at the AGO

As someone who regularly shops at H&M, and appreciates (ahem, dreams about) good high-end designer creations, I was pretty excited about Lanvin for H&M 2010 collaboration preview. Here’s how the collection fared:

Affordable? – $200-$250 per dress, so I’ll go with no.
Wearable? – All of the pieces were functional and wearable. Mind you, the hems are unfinished, so wouldn’t expect them to last more than a few washes.
Different? – Design – yes; materials – your average H&M. I especially enjoyed the accessories and shoes.

Given the special occasion and posh venue (Art Gallery of Ontario), I started planning my outfit early :) Emilio & Coco offered to style me for this event in Campanula, a dress inspired by the national flower of Monaco. The dress will be available on their e-boutique as of Nov 13th, so I was the first person to ever wear it in public. So honoured, thank you Emilio & Coco!

I had a major haircut & dye for L’Oreal’s Revolutionary Reds contest :) If you have a second, please vote for me!

Are Uggs out of style in 2010?

According to Google analytics, I receive A LOT of referrals for “are uggs out of style“. I felt it was my duty to answer this question since Google’s kind enough to send the traffic my way.

I’ll make it short and sweet:

Totally IN as indoors footwear / slippers. These will keep your toes warm at the ski resort. Please don’t wear them around the city — unless you’re going for a “fashion victim tween” look.

Ugg-clogs? Cute, I’d wear them! Note that these retail for $340 in Canada and $180 in the States. Go figure.
